The Mountain and The Pathless Path

Everyone sees before them some direction, some current that their life is moving in. There are two streams, or paths that present themselves to any who indeed go looking for it (and many don’t) - which leaves one question: which one do you chose?

The first path (my mind conceptualises paths up a mountain as a digestible personal myth) is trodden and familiar; many have walked up it and you can see some of them standing at the top triumphantly. This way seems safe, and it is proven to work for some people, but it is a futile and fruitless method for you. This is why only a few seem to stand atop victorious; there was no path when they walked it. The path only seems familiar now because many have made The Great Mistake; comparing themselves to others and walking in someone else’s shoes, on someone else’s path. The few at the top dared to go into The Wild and blaze their own unique trail.

Make no mistake, the endeavor of going into The Wild and striving to reach the top is a dangerous and dark affair. Not only is the The Wild shadowy, untamed, and sometimes malevolent; there is also a game afoot.

Let’s say you navigate the Wilds, you fight demons and face many trials, and you reach the top of The Mountain. You see all around you, the clouds wistfully kissing the top of the jagged peaks, precipitating rain, and forming the rivers. You see the rivers flowing and watering the land as they meander towards the ocean. You look at the ocean with all of its mystical beauty and, way off in the distance, you can see water evaporating and forming the clouds that would soon return to water the valley. You see it all breathing together as One. You see that your searching and forging was in vain. You laugh at yourself because you realise that you’ve already been here before, and soon you will die for all your effort to reach the peak. Your body will wither and slough off the mountain in the wind and drift into the river. The river will weave and wind, ebb and flow into the ocean, where you may drift for many hundreds of years. And finally, maybe, you’ll evaporate into the clouds and return once again to be the live-giving Rain for The Mountain, and someone else can watch you fall as their journey comes to an “end”. You have always been right where you need to be, be that in a state of Being or Non-Being. You never actually took a step.

 Nevertheless, the journey continues! Onwards!
